Shallow Review: Interpol
Went to the Interpol show at Radio City on Tuesday. Let’s see…loved the band – hated the venue. I could have had a more compelling experience in my apartment with a couple of red light bulbs, a better stereo, and some incense. They just aren’t made to fill up a theater that size. That being said, Interpol is always consistent live. The show wasn’t worth the $40, though, especially since they didn’t play very long. Weird part is that they actually started on time. I got there late because I wanted to avoid the opening act, Blonde Redhead. I like the music, but can’t stand to watch them live. Two reasons: 1) Attractive, middle aged Italian twins. I find them kind of creepy. 2) Husband and wife intimacy vibe. She, the bassist and her husband, guitar, get all up on each other without actually touching. Face to face, fingering their instruments (ha ha). It’s way too much for me. A lot of people find it hot, but it just makes me feel like a voyeur and icky.
Pix of the show follow. Not much to see, really, but it was fun to watch the crowd spilling out of the theater afterwards.
